Like a Child at Home: One additional opportunity that will be listed on a Sunday Bulletin Insert is the beginning of Lenten Small Groups and ABC the week of February 26. All the details you need are in the insert. We often call Lent the season of the journey to the cross, a journey that is best made in the company of faithful friends. Our Small Groups and ABC provide just such a company for this year's journey.
ABC classes will continue on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and many of the 60+ participants in the fall and winter sessions may want to continue the good habit of Wednesdays with the Bible. And others may want to join them. All are welcome. But the same week that ABC launches its Lenten term, other groups of Park folks will begin to meet in the homes of Park members to study and discuss the same ABC material, a study in Paul's letter to the Ephesians.
Paul describes the Ephesian Christians as "no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household." We are family. Lenten ABC and Small Groups are family time. They provide a priceless opportunity to meet together around God's word and to share together from our life experiences. Some will come with a rich past of Bible study and small group activity. For others this will be a first time. All are welcome.
The wonderful last line of Isaac Watts' "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need" reads speak of being a part of the family of God, "No more a stranger, or a guest, but like a child at home." ABC and Small Groups are "at home" times for the family of God.
