A CHANCE TO SERVE
END OF THE SUMMER OR BEGINNING OF THE FALL?
3 JOHN 14
ADDENDUM: POOR PLUTO

I often hear Park People (who aren’t among the 100+ who’ve already been) say they’d really like to go to First Food and Friends some Saturday to help put the arms and legs on our ministry with “the least of these our brothers and sisters.” Meet at the church tomorrow morning at 8. Called: In Brazil one of the most common ways to talk about making a telephone call is to use the Portuguese verb “ligar” which literally means to connect( think “ligament”). “Vou ligar,” I might say, meaning “I will call you.” I like the the idea that even when we’re talking with someone on the phone, we’re connecting. I’ll look at a couple of other churches, but the friendliness alone makes a great argument for this one! When I got home I had message from one of the congregation members we met inviting me to dinner on Thursday. It’s a far cry from last week (Bill’s note: at a PCUSA church) when the friendliest person I met was another visitor! (more…)
