In this E-pistle:
GOD’S GREAT GRACE – TEN YEARS IN JARDIM AMÉRICA
YOUR NAME FOR A CAUSE
Most of you know that ten Park people leave tomorrow for the Tenth Anniversary Celebration at IPJA, our sister church in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Please keep Tina Cruzan, Joe Gioan, Dan Humphries, Jeff Lemley, Becky Teague, Gerrit vanHartogh, Alex Varkonda, Emma Varkonda, Jack Walker, and me in your prayers for safety in travel and openness to God throughout the trip. We go representing all of you as our brothers and sisters in Christ celebrate the amazing things God has done through his great grace. We will bring your well wishes and listen to stories and read faces as we seek God’s direction for the next phases of our partnership. I will be preaching two sermons in Portuguese – Thursday evening and Sunday morning. You will find English translations by clicking here.
Finally, on a more personal note, our daughter Alanna has been greatly touched by the plight of the children of Northern Uganda. I mentioned the situation during a sermon not long ago. Last evening Alanna sent this note to Becky and me and I have responded as requested. You, too, may want to learn more and add your name to those who want to make a difference in that trouble part of the world:
I’ve just signed the Children Should Never Be Soldiers Declaration committing myself to help bring peace and protection to the children of northern Uganda. As many as 30,000 children have been captured, tortured, and used as frontline soldiers and sex slaves in a bloody civil war that has raged for 20 years. The time has come to end this war.
I hope you will make this commitment, too.
Please join with thousands of concerned citizens and parents who believe that all children deserve to have a childhood free from torture and a future free from cruelty.
World Vision will take this petition to the Bush Administration, Congress, and the United Nations to demand action.
World Vision’s goal is 1 million signatures—and they need your help to get there.
If you’d like to know more about this tragic crisis, please email me and I can let you know what I know.

Keep us in your prayers as we travel. I won’t see you Sunday, but you will be in my prayers and I look forward to being back with you next week.
