Pray at all times?
Life Beyond the Game

Pray at ALL times? “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances.” This was the Apostle’s advice for his friends in Thessalonica. But they didn’t have Super Bowls in Thessalonica (or maybe they did). Yes, the fans are praying for their teams. You can read all about the fans in Seattle and closer to home. So we pit the Seahawks with their Cathedral service tonight and their charismatic prayers on Sunday against our 82-year old nun, Sister Mary Ann Vasilchek, with her rosary beads and terrible towel.

So should we pray for Steelers? Should they pray for the Seahawks? Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander are among the big name Christians on the Seahawks. The Baptist Press is keeping track for us. Read all about it. Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu and Antwaan Randle El are among those on the Steelers who are open about their Christian faith. Read all about the Steelers. How much prayer should a Super Bowl get? Probably not much. See more at Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

And, by the way, if you’re going to pray continually on Sunday evening, just be sure that you rejoice in whatever circumstances may follow.

Our youth group will be watching the game projected floor to ceiling in Youth Hall. Guests are always welcome.

Those of us living in Pittsburgh might not know it, but there is life beyond THE GAME. Specifically, there is life at Park Presbyterian Church. Worship this Sunday includes Christ’s invitation to join him at the Table of his great love. Please come prepared for “the joyful feast of the people of God.”

And remember some great Sunday School classes: Rx for Overload in the Worship/Learning Center, a great Christian living course based on solid Biblical principles. Becky Teague is teacher. Jack Walker and Doris Thompson are leading a study of the Book of Hebrews. Their class meets in the church library. Plus, of course, the Men’s Bible Class and the G.R.O.W Class. The game doesn’t start until 6:30. You can make Sunday school at 9:30!

See you Sunday!

(No prayers for the Steelers, but you can bring your terrible towel, if you like!)
