Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world– Who doesn’t know the story of Joshua Vannoy, the Beaver Falls High School student who wore the Broncos jersey to school last Friday? A Google news search shows 250 stories about Joshua and his teacher John Kelly in the past five days. Click here for the Denver Post’s take on it all. John Elway is no PR dummy! Whatever you think of Joshua’s decision to wear his blue and orange #7 last week, the fact of the matter is that Mr. Kelly got it wrong. Maybe Mr. Kelly should have been at Park Presbyterian Church last Sunday, and maybe he should have come up front to sit with the kids during the children sermon. He would have learned that Jesus loves all the children of the world, blue and orange, black and gold, even Seahawk blue, whatever that is. (more…)

I returned home very late Tuesday evening (actually very early Wednesday morning) from the trip to California for my father’s memorial service and a time of reunion with my mother and brothers and sisters. You can add my name to the list of those experiencing answered prayer this week. It was a remarkably good time away. The service for my father was good in just about every way that such a service can be good, and the time with brothers and sisters was the most positive any of us can remember in a long time. Thank you to the many of you who have offered such kind words and have assured me and my family of your prayers. It is a blessing to be in a church family like the Park family in times of need! Were You There, Pat?

The Reverend Pat Robertson is in the news again. This time for implying that God’s wrath is being revealed against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Mr. Sharon has suffered a massive stroke and is in a medically induced coma. Last year, Sharon’s government began to oversee Israeli withdrawal from occupied lands in the Gaza strip. Mr. Robertson believes Sharon has incurred divine punishment for violating the the words of the Prophet Joel. Click here for Joel 3:2
